Special Delivery
Tony was typing up his letter for maternity leave, sitting at his desk. He was due within the next two to three weeks and Ducky had decided it would be best for him to go ahead to start his leave now in case anything came up. So, while Jethro and the team were out investigating leads on a new case, Tony was caught at his desk. He had just finished the letter and was printing it out when a jolting pain tore through his abdomen and back. It took him a few moments to catch his breath before he picked up the phone and dialed down to the morgue.
"Jimmy... get Ducky... I think this baby is gonna be early..."
Two minutes later, Ducky was entering the bullpen when another pain tore through Tony, leaving him gasping for air. Ducky walked over with Jimmy and the two of them slowly helped him to his feet.
"I've already called Jethro, Anthony, and he will be meeting us at the hospital. Dr. Pitt will be there as well to keep an eye on your pulmonary function as we get ready to deliver this little one of yours..."
Half an hour later they were at the hospital, Tony in a private room hooked up to a couple of machines and iv's, waiting for Jethro to get there.

"I would be very honored, Anthony. Now then, let's get going on this shall we? Jethro, if you'll go with this nurse here and she will help get you into the appropriate clothing and then you'll be joining us in the operating room. Anthony, when we get there, we'll be setting you up for what's called a spinal block so that you can remain awake while the little one is delivered, all right?"
"Yeah, Ducky, that sounds good," Tony said softly, reluctantly letting go of Jethro's hand.

Another kiss to Tony's lips before he heads out to get ready so he can be with his boy in the operating room.

"I... I can't feel anything from my chest down. Ducky? Ducky, is this normal? Is it supposed to be like this?"
"Easy, Anthony," Ducky assured him gently. "Yes, it is supposed to feel like that. Jethro, are you ready for this then? Yes? All right then, gentlemen, this shouldn't take long at all once we get through the muscle and tissue. The actual incisions and such will take about six minutes. Once you are opened, Anthony, it will take us about another five to ten minutes to retrieve your little one and then another ten to clean and close you up, all right?"
Tony nodded and gripped Jethro's hand tightly as the procedure began...

...several minutes later Ducky had a shocked look on his face.
"Oh my..." he said softly. "I did not think... but well, of course... why not..." a moment later the wailing of a child filled the room and Tony let out a soft gasp as he heard it.
"My dear Anthony and Jethro, you have a beautiful little girl," Ducky said with a smile, handing her off to be cleaned up. A moment later, a second cry filled the room and Tony looked shocked.
"And you both have a beautiful baby boy as well..."

"Look at what you did, DiNozzo."
It's soft even as he kisses his boy.
"They're beautiful."

"Oh... oh gods... one of each... Jethro... twins..." He's stunned but happy. Ducky works now to help get Tony cleaned out and sewn back up as gently but quickly as possible. Meanwhile, a nurse comes over, once child in each arm and shows them off to Tony and Gibbs. Tony wants to touch them but since both his arms are taped down to the boards on the table, he can only look for right now.
"They're... beautiful... and so small..." The nurse smiles.
"Six pounds, both of them," she tells them, handing them to Gibbs for a moment. "Just for a moment and then I need to take them down to the NICU for a check up and to get cleaned off and all and then I'll bring them to your room..."

He gives Tony a grin even as he looks down at Jackson and Caitlin. They'd be loved by everyone at NCIS. After a few moments he hands them back to the nurse so they could get checked out. He was sure his boy wanted out of this room.
"You did good my beautiful boy."

"Doctor," a nurse said quietly, drawing Ducky's attention to Tony's blood pressure. Ducky nodded quietly.
"Yes, Jethro, that would be a wonderful idea. We are going to just finish getting Tony cleaned up and such and then we will take ihm back to his room by which time you and the children should be able to join him."

He knew that look and knew that the nurse had said something to Ducky. There was just something about leaving the room. Something that he didn't want to do. However, he kisses Tony and heads off with their children. It didn't mean he liked the idea much. Not when he worried over Tony as much as he did.

"Anthony, your blood pressure is little too high for my liking so I am going to lightly sedate you until we get you completely cleaned and closed up and the nurse here is going to administer another dose of dilaudid for the pain you are going to be in once the spinal block is removed. All right?" Tony nodded slowly.
"Thanks, Ducky," he said softly as the nurse administered the light sedation and the pain meds and Tony closed his eyes...
Half an hour later, Tony was taken to his room where Jethro and the twins were likely already waiting for him, the twins in one bassinet for now.
"Jethro, Anthony's blood pressure got a little high so he's been lightly sedated and given some pain medicine to help with the pain he will slowly begin feeling now that the spinal block has been removed. I'll wake him up a little more here in a moment once he's settled into his own bed."

"You could've just told me right there, Duck. Not wait until you bring him up to me." Nothing got hid from him when it came to Tony. However at the mention of lightly sedating his boy, he tries not to snap at the good doctor. Especially when the older man knew how he felt about sedatives when it came to Tony.

"Hey," he said softly. "Can I hold my children now?"

So he stays quiet giving a smile when he hears Tony's voice. It was a relief to hear. "Of course, my boy." Leaning over he takes the children and places one in each of his boy's arms.

"In two days, dear boy, so long as they, and you, are doing well enough to go home."
